Welcome and thank you for your interest in the AS Roma male and female ID Camps for 2009.
AS Roma and Genova International School of Soccer are happy to be able to come back to Canada to see old friends and to make new friends, and also to share the generations of knowledge of developing world class youth soccer players gained in the soccer crazed nation of Italy.
The purpose of the ID camps is not only to develop new skills in young up and coming talented soccer players, but also to create opportunities for Canadian soccer players to showcase their skills and ability to the international world of professional soccer.
The ID camps are organised in conjunction with AS Roma Calcio and Genova International School of Soccer as part of an international program to find and nourish the talents of soccer players. With the involvement of world soccer legend, ex-Italian national player and world champion, and director of AS Roma Youth development Bruno Conti, and Morris Pigneillo, General Director of Genova International School of Soccer (GISS), as well as several other high profile coaches, managers, scouts and agents, the 2009 ID Camps will provide a platform for young Canadians to become involved in this exciting program.
During the 2008 ID Camp in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada 14 year old Joseph Kuta from the Erin Mills soccer club and also training with Eurostar Goalkeeping Academy, was invited to trial with AS Roma at Trigoria. I can tell you the AS Roma coaches at Trigoria were pleasantly surprised, and Joseph may return in the future after some further training.
Also, from the 2008 AS Roma ID camps, 3 players were invited to join the GISS team under 18 showcase in Italy during the month of November. This tour involved games against teams including Juventus, Genoa, and Monaco, just to name a few. Jonathan Agostino, a 14 year old from Toronto who played in that tour will be playing in an international tournament with Seria A giants Genoa in May. And 17 year olds Kian Herrman, Paco Torres, and Marcel Debellis were invited back by 3 other clubs to trial in August 2009. Marcel Debellis went to trials at Vicenza directly after the showcase tour, triallinging for the first team at 17.......the story will continue.
New in 2009, GISS will be working together with Eurostar Goalkeeping School. During the last couple of years a few of the goalies in the GISS system have been coming from this goalkeeping school in Toronto, Canada. After spending some time getting to know each other in Canada, Eurostar and GISS have come to an agreement that Eurostar Goalkeeping School will train and evaluate all our goalies at our ID Camps in Canada.
Also new this year will be AS Roma's first visit to Hamilton, Ontario to hold our ID Camps with host Club Mount Hamilton Youth Soccer Club. GISS has been spending some time with the club and is excited about the possibilities to be able to share some skills and evaluate some of the talented players in the club. Players from all clubs are invited to the ID Camps.
We also are happy and excited to visit our old friends at Erin Mills. We find the Erin Mills Soccer Club coaches and players are eager to play and learn the game of soccer with us. They are a progressive club always evaluating new ideas and always looking to advance a players skill and soccer career. We also have players from Erin Mills Soccer Club in the GISS system. We hope to continue the relationship we have started with the Clubs for many years to come.
If you are interested in holding an ID camp for your soccer club please feel free to contact us at anytime.
